DODS Software - Version 3.1
The DODS 3.1 release is available as binary distributions for a
number of platforms or as source code. For information on the
DODS software and how to obtain and use it, please read below.
If you are already familiar with DODS software, you can go
directly to our
DODS 3.1 ftp site. Or, for those wanting the most up to
date code, you can access our anonymous read-only CVS repository
(see our
anonymous CVS page).
DODS is made up of a number of seperate components. Which
components you should download will depend on how you will be
using the DODS software. Following is information on what
components you will need to download.
What to download for a binary distribution:
-
For a DODS server: "Server tools" and the file(s) for the
server(s) you will be using. (The "Server tools" file
contains programs used by all DODS servers.)
-
For a DODS client: "Client tools" file and the file(s) for the
client(s) you will be using. (The "Client tools" file
contains programs and information useful to all DODS clients.
Also, remember that to use the Matlab GUI, you also need the
Matlab command line client.
-
For a DODS client library: "Core (DAP) library", "Third-party
packages", and the appropriate client library ("netCDF client
library" or "JGOFS client library").
How to download a binary distribution
Follow the link below for your desired platform. From the
resulting table, select the components you need.
If your platform is not available, you may have to build DODS
from the source code distribution. The next section discusses
downloading the source code distribution.
What to download for a source code distribution:
- To build a server(s): "DAP", "3rd-party Packages",
"asciival", "WWW interface", and the appropriate server(s).
- To build the IDL or Matlab clients: "DAP", "3rd-party
Packages", and the appropriate client(s). Remember, the
"Matlab GUI" requires the "Matlab Client".
- To build a client library (netCDF or JGOFS): "DAP", "3rd-party
Packages", and "netCDF Server" and/or "JGOFS Server". (The
code for the libraries is packaged with the server code.)
- To build the netCDF clients: "DAP", "3rd-party
Packages", "netCDF Server" (contains dncdump), and "netCDF
Clients" (contains dncview)
